How do I define mandatory fields or prescribe defined values?

In i-doit, you can define mandatory fields or only admit the entry of defined values.
The corresponding settings can be found in the i-doit administration under CMDB settings → validation".

In a first step, add a definition for a category using add category validation.
Here, you will find an overview of all fields in this category.
You can define whether this field must be ...

• ... a mandatory field...
• ... unique per object (only with multi-value categories ) ...
• ... unique per  object type ...
• ... globally unique ...

In addition, you can define whether the entry must correspond to a certain value.
This only applies to fields in which even without the mandatory field definition only certain values are to be expected (for example date fields).

For each category for which you define a validation, you have an entry in the validation configuration that can be expanded or collapsed.
