Server rack: Segmenting slots

Rack units (slots) in server racks can be divided into multiple segments. This is useful when several smaller devices need to be placed side by side in a single rack unit.

Prerequisites

Segmented slots are only visible when the option "Toggle Chassis View" is deactivated.

Procedure

1. Open the rack and select a slot

Open the server rack in the rack view. Move the mouse pointer over the rack unit to be segmented. A gear icon will appear.

2. Start segmentation

Click the gear icon and select "Segment Slot".

3. Set the number of segments

A window opens at the bottom right. Select the desired number of segments and confirm with "Segment Slot".

The rack unit is then divided into the chosen number of equally sized segments. A separate object can be placed in each segment.

Tips

• To undo the segmentation, click the gear icon again and select "Unsegment Slot"
• Segmentation is only visible in the standard rack view, not in the chassis view
