QR Code Printer: Setup and label sizes
The QR Code Printer add-on generates QR codes for i-doit objects that can be printed on labels.
Installation
The QR Code Printer is a Windows application installed separately:
- Download the ZIP package from the customer portal
- Extract on a Windows PC
- Start the application and connect to the i-doit instance (configure URL + API key)
The application communicates with the CMDB via the i-doit API and generates QR codes locally.
Recommended label size
There are no explicit hardware requirements. Recommendation:
- Minimum width: 50 mm (for readable QR codes)
- Labels in format 50x25 mm or larger are well suited
- The format 50x12 mm is too small for QR code display
Cloud limitation
In i-doit Cloud, the QR Code Printer add-on is currently not directly installable. The add-on can be downloaded separately and used locally.
Label printers
No special printers are required. Any label printer that supports the desired label size can be used. Common models from Brother, DYMO, or Zebra are compatible.
Object information on the label
In addition to the QR code, additional fields can be displayed on the label (e.g. object title, inventory number). Configuration is done in the add-on settings.
