IPAM: IP address management in i-doit
i-doit provides integrated IP Address Management (IPAM) via the object types Layer-3 Net and Layer-2 Net.
Creating networks
- Create an object of type Layer-3 Net
- Configure in the Net category: type (IPv4/IPv6), network address, CIDR, gateway, DNS servers
Assigning IP addresses
IP addresses are assigned via the Host Address category. The system suggests the next free IP automatically. FQDN is auto-generated from hostname and DNS domain.
IP list
On each Layer-3 Net object, the IP list shows all assigned addresses with hostname, assignment method (color-coded), free addresses, duplicate warnings, and integrated ping/NSLOOKUP.
DHCP
Via the DHCP category on the Layer-3 Net, static ranges, dynamic pools, and reserved addresses can be defined.
Tips
- Overlapping address ranges are detected automatically
- During CSV import, IP addresses are not automatically assigned to networks
- VPN networks can be represented as Layer-3 Net objects
